Piotr Ponikowski – professor of cardiology, Rector of the Wroclaw Medical University and Director of the Institute for Heart Diseases at the University Hospital, Wroclaw, Poland.  

He served as the President of Polish Cardiac Society (2017-19) and the President of the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and a member of the ESC Board. He was a member of the ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines and the Chair of the 2016 ESC Heart Failure Guidelines.  

His research interest focuses on the pathophysiology and management of acute and chronic heart failure. Member of numerous Steering/Executive Committees of phase II and III large clinical trials (recently Co-Chair: FAIR-HF, CONFIRM-HF, AFFIRM-AHF, RESHAPE-HF and EMPULSE). Co-author of > 800 peer-reviewed papers with total number of citations >130000, h-index=131 (Scopus); selected among Highly Cited Researchers by Thomson Reuters 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
